Dodgeballer Arena
I think it would be cool to have a Dodgeball Arena.
The Idea
For those just joining us, A dodgeballer is a Mes/Ele with limited skills and 105 health.
Anet borrowed the idea for the Dragon Festival, in the Dragon Arena (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Dragon_Arena)
It was fun and sligtly insane, or if you played to much you would be.
In my guild we often scrim as dodgeballers, sadly its hard to find guilds and others who know or even want to PvP in this style.
But I think a Dodgeball Arena would be an interesting addition. (If not an arena perhaps a GvG option)
1) Its fun and truely classless and skill based, Arena/s would have to limit the skills carried. Preventing Spellbreaker and Armour beefs.
2)Its fun and exciting, and strangely pointless. Most PvP has become to serious and elitist. Bar perhaps random, where 'cookie-cutter' builds still rule
3)Some kind of reward would be needed, but I dont think its should be a uber reward. Perhaps gold per kill, with bonuses for extra kills. Nothing massive or serious. Maybe a new item with a new collector or something
Why?
Fun, Thrills and a truely classless; non-overly zealous Player vs Player arena. A game for the players who hate IWAY or Spike Builds, Get owned by touchers and don't have the 'GODLY ELITIST' emots (rank related action icons) for HoH. The many who enjoy PvE but find it hard to kill a character to bend to the latest trend when they wanna PvP.
And because its awesome.

I'd like it. Then again, not sure how well it would work with RA people pouring in, wondering why they can't use certain skills or armor...

That could be a good idea seeing as all anet would have to do is change the arena to somewhere apart from the dragon theme and they will have the programming from the d-fest so they should be able to do it. But then again it IS anet, whos biggest concern is just getting another expansion pack for us to buy...

Thats why it would work, its simple and its basic it's true to the almost communist (Not a bad thing :P ) ideas of equality for all, no gimmics, no fad, no cookiecutters. No uber elites or over powering weapons. If you win its because you Followed the 5 D's, Dodge, Dip, Duck, Dive and ahh... Dodge.
And you were the fastest at clicking Something I sucked at, so this isn't because I own at Dodgeball.

Thats why I think they would do it and they should, its an easy shut up. That and its supports there own ideas of equality and skill based play
And I don't have too much trust with Anet these days, learning that Australia is considered part of Europe, :S
But this I know they can do, and think they should.

lol no I'll save that to the people with a Signet of Patience.
Had a hard enough time asking a small question about the ingame store,
4 emails later, 2 dead email reply addresses offered as 'Assistance', and a cycle of contacting the help site which then send me to previous dead email and back to help site. And then solving the smaller problem by creating a second account at the ticketing site, to ask my questions and findout why I couldn't verifiy my first account info...........*headgoesboom* Only to recieve 5 return emails telling me I was being redirected to different departments. Before getting an answer; that didn't even address my question
No I can't go thru that again I'm still in therapy, one day I might be able to look at the word 'Assistance', and not revert to a shaking ball in sheer terror.
Or perhaps never again run that gauntlet for assistance.
But Dodgeball arena would be awesome!

If you didn't do the dragon festival arena, then its hard to explain.
But think of it as PvP with only 105/ 100 Hit points, one attack; Lightning Orb. No armour buffs no evasions or deflections spells. So one hit kills.
How is it different.... Umm its not a seasonal thing related to a festival,
Its dodgeball.

Easiest part is its been tested, so now they can improve on it or nerf it how they like I guess

Sounds a bit like the snowball fights last christmas, those were fun. Limited skillset, equal hp, each class had its own unique skill, was much better then the dragon arena.
/signed for something resembling the snowball fights

I'm not 100% sure but I think I saw a match between Irrestible Bloke and Esoteric Warriors for the special event, that was a dodgeball game!?!
Didn't know were else to post it and it make a nice bump too,
Good to see other guilds using it for fun

Instead of staying till there are only a few people still interested in playing it, a permanant dogeball arena will quickly become like jade quarry as people get bored of it after the novelty wears off.

Bumping this because DA is back! weee
Atleast there could be a GvG options to have a dodgeball match.
But teams have there skills replaced with the dodgeball skills. Its already a game element. Wouldn't require a new arena, just a tab on the GvG options!
